Platform Engineer

About this role

As a Platform Engineer, you'll build and maintain the infrastructure foundation that the entire Casemend platform runs on. Our systems process protected health information under HIPAA regulations, which means security, auditability, and reliability aren't nice-to-haves — they're baseline requirements. You'll work closely with our engineering team to design infrastructure that scales with our growing client base while maintaining the compliance posture that federal healthcare organizations require.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS for HIPAA-regulated healthcare workloads
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines that enforce security scanning, testing, and compliance checks
• Build observability systems — logging, monitoring, alerting — that give the team visibility into system health and performance
• Manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and ensure all environments are reproducible and auditable
• Implement and maintain security controls required for SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance
• Collaborate with engineering on architecture decisions that affect scalability, cost, and reliability

What we're looking for

• 4+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability roles
• Deep experience with AWS services (ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, preferably Terraform
• Experience implementing security controls for compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, FedRAMP)
• Strong understanding of networking, encryption, and access control in cloud environments
• Experience with containerized application deployment and orchestration
